Parents, Sevier's Careers Needs Your Help
As we continue to encourage positive behavior and hard work in our classroom, we are looking to stock our student rewards Stores with a variety of fun and motivational items. If you are interested and able, we would greatly appreciate any voluntary contributions to help fill our shelves. Your support would make a big difference in creating a fun and engaging learning environment for our students. Here is the link to items we continually need: Parent's Voluntary List
HOW IT WORKS
Sevier's Careers is an online, digital classroom management system created using Google Sites and Google Sheets.
On the second week of school, students receive a digital debit card with a personal account number that will never change throughout the year. This is a 3 digit number that corresponds to the student and enables them to access their personal bank accounts, and purchase any classroom reward, all online.
Bank Accounts
Students have access to their bank accounts through Classroom Redhound Academy. They can track all of their direct deposits from the week and/or their current employment. They will also see any fines or charges, the date they were made, and details about any debit or credit.
Jobs
Students are automatically employed as a classroom student the moment they join my classroom. All students recieve $10 per week. Students may attain a classroom job in any of their 4 core classes to earn more classroom dollars. They can use this money to make purchases from any of our 3 stores or buy tickets to parties and end of the year field trips.
Fines and Charges
Fines and charges can be given throughout the day for things such as classroom or hallway behavior, rolling around in the chairs, spinning or putting chairs up during class. Fines and charges will show on the student's bank account with the reason for the charge.
Student Involvement
Sevier's Careers is a big job and it is far too big for one teacher to keep up with. Students are needed in order to make this work. Choosing the right students for the classroom jobs is one that will take time to finesse but once you find the right employee. Most jobs can be switched out each month but some jobs require the same student for as long as you can keep them working.
Online Ordering
We offer 3 stores in my classroom. The first is Feelin' Froggy. This is somewhat of a general store where students can purchase items such as pens, pencils, toys, and many other items. This store requires students to oversee all purchases, gather the items together, and delivery on Fridays.
Another store is Hangry Hippo. This is more of a snack shack where students can purchase pop, chips, crackers, cookies, etc. This store also requires a student to oversee all purchases, gather the items, and delivery on Fridays.
The last store I have is Busy Beans. This is an in-class coffee shop. Here students can choose from iced or hot flavored coffees, flavored hot cocoas, hot apple cider, or flavored fruit teas. Students can choose to have extra cream added or whipped cream. This shop requires a barista and two or three assistants to ensure that all drinks are properly made and delivered on Fridays.
